Dr Risky Harisa Haslan, Assistant Professor in Applied Psychology with the Division of Organisational and Applied Psychology, was conferred a Lord Dearing Award at a ceremony held recently at the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia.

The annual Award, which has been running since 1999, recognises staff members' outstanding contributions to enhancing the student learning experience.

Dr Haslan’s innovative approaches to teaching include the engagement of students in the classroom through use of interactive applications that students can easily access from their mobile devices, and blended learning in tutorials and discussions. Her efforts in this area had earned her a Staff Oscar for ‘Most High-Tech Lecturer’ in 2016. She has also taken the initiative to organize and facilitate workshops on leadership competencies and problem-solving skills geared towards supporting diverse student learning needs. Dr Haslan believes in giving students a safe space to express their own thoughts and differing opinions on topics being learnt in order to develop critical thinking skills.

The judging panel for the Lord Dearing Award consists of senior members of staff from across the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@’s campuses, and the Vice-Provosts for Teaching and Learning from the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia and the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Ningbo China. The panel is chaired by the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham’s Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education and Student Experience.
