Biography
Dr Alex Lechner is a landscape ecologist and an honorary Associate Professor at the School of Environmental and Geographical Sciences at the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia and a Associate Professor at Monash 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ Indonesia. Originally, from Australia, he has held a variety of positions at the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Queensland, the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Tasmania, and RMIT 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ and conducted research in a wide range of areas from mine land rehabilitation to planning wildlife corridors. Alex has completed a BSc majoring in Ecology at the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Queensland, and a MAppSci specialising in Geospatial Science and a PhD in Landscape Ecology at RMIT 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@.
Expertise Summary
Alex's research focuses on conservation planning, biodiversity impact assessment, spatial planning and urban sustainability, commonly using spatial modelling to characterise biodiversity and ecosystem services across space and time. He also conducts research to support planning and participatory decision-making through the development of novel spatial approaches including ecosystem services modelling, big remote sensing data and participatory web-based mapping.
