The Nottingham National Economics Quiz Competition a Success

Congratulations to students from KYUEM; Chong Boon Siak, Kuan Zhi Jun, and Adam Aqhar Bin Abdul Malik, for winning the first prize for The Nottingham National Economics Quiz Competition 2023. Humaiera Ibrahim, Addlyn Alyssa Faisal, and Nur Iman Safiyyah from KYUEM also bags the second prize and the third prize team comprises of Yia Zhen Hwa, Koh Teng Wei, and Ma Gua Ming from Kolej Matrikulasi Perlis.
The quiz competition was jointly organised by UNM’s School of Economics and the Nottingham Economics Society (NES).
The quiz competition was open to all pre-university students in Malaysia and held online on the 3 April 2023 for the preliminary stage and the 7 April 2023 for the final stage. Participants were required to form a team of three to answer 10 to 20 questions for a total of 7 rounds. They were given between 10 and 60 seconds to answer the questions depending on the difficulty of the questions. The questions covered various economic topics from basics concepts, market structure, elasticity, AD-AS model, money markets and foreign exchange to general economics knowledge. Both stages of the quiz competition were intense and highly competitive, with some groups winning by a margin. The top three teams who demonstrated good knowledge of economics walked away with money prizes totalling RM2,700 while the other participants received an e-certificate as a token of appreciation and recognition.
The Nottingham National Economics Quiz Competition 2023 is aimed to promote knowledge of economics to young people, which is also a vision of the School and NES. The next event will be the Nottingham-World Bank Economics Essay 2023. Stay tuned for more updates!
