We are seeking a dynamic and motivated academic to join the School of Psychology at The 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) as an Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to high‑quality teaching, research, student supervision, and academic administration and citizenship across the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teaching, Learning, and Student Support
- Design and deliver specialist modules, including preparation, teaching, assessment design, marking, tutorial support, and related module administration.
- Teach and examine students on foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, particularly in areas relevant to the post.
- Serve as module convenor where assigned, ensuring high‑quality curriculum content, delivery, and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and enhance teaching materials, delivery methods, and assessment practices as part of ongoing quality assurance.
- Contribute to foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate student recruitment and admissions activities.
- Participate in staff development and continuous professional development activities.
- Supervise and assess undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
- Provide academic guidance, pastoral care, and career development feedback to support students’ learning, progress, and overall wellbeing.

- Initiate, plan, and conduct individual and collaborative research projects within the discipline.
- Contribute to the School’s research agenda, including meeting requirements for MyRA or similar research assessment exercises.
- Build a national research profile through sustained publication in leading peer‑reviewed journals, conference presentations, and other scholarly outputs.
- Develop competitive research proposals and generate external funding.
- Supervise postgraduate research students as main or co‑supervisor and serve as internal examiner or independent chair where required.
- Administrative Duties and Academic Citizenship
- Contribute to the effective administration of the School, Faculty and 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@, including participation in committees, boards, and working groups as required by the line manager.
- Support programme management activities such as timetable coordination, quality assurance processes, documentation, and accreditation-related tasks.
- Demonstrate collegiality and academic citizenship by contributing to School, Faculty and 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ initiatives, collaborative activities, and community‑building efforts.
- Uphold institutional policies, academic standards, and good governance practices in all academic activitiesExternal Liaison
- External Liaison
- Support marketing and recruitment initiatives for domestic and international student enrolment.
- Liaise with relevant Government agencies to maintain local programme recognition and accreditation.
- Liaise with the British Psychological Society to ensure continued international accreditation of Psychology programmes.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Psychology or a closely related discipline (as defined by the MQA Programme Standards for Psychology 2.0)
- Excellent spoken and written English proficiency
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills, time management and organisational skills, ICT literacy and effective use of digital learning platforms, and administrative competency necessary for academic duties
- Evidence of excellent teaching and presentation skills aligned with the British Psychological Society core areas
- Ability to engage, motivate, and retain student interest, inspiring them to learn and achieve
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Dedication to ethical academic practice, professionalism, and collegiality
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, and leadership potential within academic settings
