We are seeking for a suitable candidate to apply for Assistant Professor in Creative Arts position at the School of Humanities, Faculty of Arts and Social Science; 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM).

The Department is keen to appoint a leader for the Creative Arts pathway within the BA (Hons) International Communications Studies degree in ways that add to the current staff expertise so that it will be well-equipped to respond to the demands of the expanding undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes with students from Malaysia and the region.

The successful candidate will hold a M.A or PhD degree, or equivalent qualification, be a specialist in diverse creative arts spanning performance, writing, production and have online links to recordings of performances and have impressive publications of their works.  Candidates will be expected to take contribute to the teaching of Humanities at undergraduate level and to contribute to the teaching and further development of the pathway. Candidates will be expected to liaise with the Division of International Communications at the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham in Ningbo, China, to assist in the planning and introduction of programmes in Cultural Studies on the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@’s UK campus, and to undertake, when appropriate, supervision of students in this important area. 

Candidates will also be expected to be actively involved in grant applications. Candidates will also be expected to have developed a research career and artistic projects which will help develop the Department’s research profile.

This position is at the level of Assistant Professor in Performing Arts/Cultural Studies /Media and Communications and includes both administrative and teaching responsibilities.

Job Requirements: 

  • BA (or equivalent) and MA in Performing Arts, Communications or relevant field.
  • Expertise in cultural and artistic forms, theatrical production and digital media.
  • Knowledge of Cultural Studies trends in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
  • Ability to teach all aspects of Performing Arts and conduct research in chosen field.
  • Strong teaching experience in higher education, ideally complemented by international exposure in both academic and industry settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organised and prepared to undertake administrative duties.
  • Administratively competent.
  • IT literate.
  • Team player.
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of stage productions and be able to guide and produce student shows.
