UNM student and team members are global champions of Unilever Future Leaders League (UFLL) 2021

The Malaysian national team comprising 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham (UNM) Year One, BSc (Hons) Economics student Loh Nicole along with Raja Rajeswary from International 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Malaya-Wales and Winfrey Kong from 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of San Diego, emerged as global champions at the Unilever Future Leaders League (UFLL) 2021, Unilever’s annual flagship business case competition that was conducted on both a national and global scale.

As the winning team, the all-women team will be attending the One Young World Summit that will be held in Tokyo, Japan, once travel restrictions ease, with the Unilever delegation in May 2022. They will also receive an opportunity to work with the Unilever Marketing Home Care team and receive mentoring under a Unilever Senior Leader. 

Having first emerged champions in the national level round of the competition on 26 February 2021, Nicole and her team members then went on to compete in the global competition where they emerged champions as well. The aim of the competition was to bring together university students from across the globe and have them showcase their business leadership skills as they took part in a challenge centred around a case study of Unilever’s brands. This year’s finals were held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and received a total of 54,000 applications

“We competed against 78 finalists, who were split amongst 26 teams. This was the first time in Unilever history that Team Malaysia had emerged as the global champions for the UFLL,” Nicole said.

“It was incredibly inspiring to see so many driven individuals committed to innovating beyond the home care industry. I cannot be more thankful to both the local and global team at Unilever who made this experience one of the most memorable ones for me.”

The team was under the mentorship of UNM alumnus Dinesh Jayabalan (BA English Language and Literature, 2019), who is currently a trainee in the Unilever Future Leaders Programme.
