Two student representatives from the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) took centre stage at the Ministry of Higher Education’s L.E.A.D.X Symposium 2025, held on 14 March at UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (MIMET) in Lumut. 

The event brought together over 490 student leaders from 38 private higher education institutions across Malaysia. Representing UNM were Iyad Anwar Taher (Year 3) and Jorden Yap (Year 2), both from the Institute of Work, Organisation and Wellbeing – Applied Psychology. 

Speaking on the “Global Leadership in Education” panel, Iyad emphasised the importance of resilience and adaptability in a fast-changing world. Jorden highlighted the need for inclusive leadership and collaboration between institutions to foster shared progress. 

Their participation contributed to a wider conversation led by national figures including MOHE Director of Student Affairs Mr Hirman bin Awang and Professor Ts. Dr. Norhisham Hamid, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. A keynote address by the Minister of Higher Education, YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, underscored the critical role of private universities in developing future-ready graduates for emerging industries such as AI and semiconductors. 

The symposium also addressed timely issues such as mental health, digital equity, and the cost of living - all central to ensuring higher education remains inclusive and student-focused.
