Budget 2023 wish list: UNM suggests rewarding automation, digitalisation to support SMEs

- Budget 2023, scheduled to be tabled on 7 October, outlines numerous priorities, one of which focuses on the recovery of job and income for all Malaysians and businesses. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have faced numerous challenges and a Pre-Budget Statement mentioned that Budget 2023 would implement comprehensive reforms to address this issue, to boost Malaysia's competitiveness and resilience.

UNM inks partnership with E Stream to increase student employability

Students from Borneo wins economics essay competitions for two consecutive years
- Description
- Students from Kota Kinabalu, Grace Wong Szee Enand Agnes Lim Hai Thong have won the annual economics essay competition organised by the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM). The duo is A Levels students from Institut Sinaran Kota Kinabalu who co-authored the winning essay. Last year, Gwendolyn Chan Hui Pei, an STPM student from SMK Batu Lintang in Kuching, bagged the first prize.

- There is a great disparity in access to healthcare between those residing in urban and rural communities. Rural communities have limited access to quality medical centres and professionals, forcing residents to travel further for quality healthcare. Pregnancy complications, domestic violence, sexual abuse and mental health concerns are only a few of the issues faced by women everywhere, more so for those with limited access to the necessary resources.

- The job market is now preparing for the next generation, Generation Z (Gen-Z), said to be born after the mid-1990s. Post pandemic, researchers have come to the conclusion that higher salary is not the most important factor in employing and retaining the new generation.

- A workshop entitled "Decarbonisation for Industrial Processes" was organised by Centre of Excellence for Green Technologies (CEGT) at Impiana KLCC Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on 29-30 July 2022. In this workshop, various industrial decarbonisation techniques were delivered, aiming to assist industrial practitioners in formulating strategies to reduce CO2 emission from their industrial processes.
