International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent - Socities Disaster Law and Health Intern
Description:
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) was founded in 1919 in Paris in the aftermath of World War I. The war had shown a need for close cooperation between Red Cross Societies, which, through their humanitarian activities on behalf of prisoners of war and combatants, had attracted millions of volunteers and built a large body of expertise. A devastated Europe could not afford to lose such a resource.

The internship is established to support IFRC Disaster Law and Health Teams to undertake a mapping on regional and national regulatory frameworks for health in Asia Pacific. Ultimately this project would provide an evidence base to support National Societies to ensure that its auxiliary role in health is well articulated, understood and reflected in the governance framework of their countries. The intern would be expected to provide research to identify the key laws and regulations to be examined, as well as provide analysis on Red Cross and Red Crescent national laws in terms of mandated roles in health activities. Drawing on the mapping exercise the intern would be expected to provide analysis and produce suitable communications/ advocacy material related to the mapping. The duration of the internship will be three (3)-months.
