Biography
Subarna Sivapalan FRSA SFHEA is Associate Professor of Education and Associate Dean of 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ and Knowledge Exchange at the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia. She also leads the UNESCO Chair in International Education and Development (Malaysia Office). Subarna was the Head of School of Education, 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia prior to taking on her present faculty leadership role.
Subarna has over 20 years of experience within the Malaysian higher education sector. Prior to joining the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham, she was attached to Malaysia's top STEM private university where she held key roles in academic and research divisions, including Director of the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Subarna also founded the institution's first scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) research cluster, and its first education and social sustainability focused research centre.
A recipient of the prestigious Lord Dearing Award and WWF Malaysia's National Eco-Lecturer Award for her work in sustainability education, Subarna works closely with local and international partner and agencies across sectors to advance education for sustainable development. She holds a PhD in Education from the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham.
Subarna in an Acumen Fellow, a Fellow of the RSA and Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK. She looks forward to connecting and collaborating with stakeholders across all sectors to realize Nottingham's commitment to sustainability through the institution's research, teaching, campus activities and work with partners.

Subarna loves working and researching within an interdisciplinary space. Her research expertise, interests and postgraduate supervision include the areas below:
