He is also continuing a longstanding research agenda involving democratic change and authoritarian resilience across the Southeast Asian region.

Professor Case's research agendas have addressed democratic change, authoritarian durability, and the origins and the persistence of hybrid political regimes, especially in Malaysia and the Southeast Asian region. He has written too on political elites.
