Course overview
Nutrition is the study of nutrients in food coupled with how the body uses them and their relationship between diet, health and disease. Through evidence-based research, students will learn to identify facts from fiction concerning dietary recommendations and healthy eating. They will learn how to handle and prepare food, where to identify key nutrients and the impact of processing on the nutritional quality of foods.
BSc (Hons) in Nutrition programme has been accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN) (reference no AC339) and is the only AfN accredited programme in Malaysia. (Date accreditation was granted on 1 May 2024; Date due for reaccreditation: 18 March 2029). AfN Programme Accreditation is a quality mark awarded to degree programmes which meet the high standards required by the AfN.
Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical experiences, students learn about various aspects of nutrition, including macronutrients, micronutrients, dietary requirements, metabolism, and the impact of nutrition on human health.
By studying this programme, students gain valuable knowledge and skills that are crucial for understanding and promoting good nutrition practices in individuals and communities. Additionally, students will explore global issues in Nutrition including the role of food and diet in relation to health and disease.

- Upon graduation, our graduates can register as a Nutritionist in Malaysia under the Allied Health Profession (AHP) Act 774.
- Graduates of our Bsc (Hons) in Nutrition programme are eligible to apply via Direct Entry for UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN) registration as a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr).

Entry requirements
All candidates are considered on an individual basis and we accept a broad range of qualifications. The entrance requirements below apply to 2025 entry.
| A Level | BCC, including two subjects chosen from Biology, Chemistry, and either Mathematics or Physics (not both). Excludes Critical Thinking and General Studies. |
| IB Diploma | 24 points with 5, 4 at Higher Level, including two subjects chosen from Biology (HL), Chemistry (HL), and either Mathematics (HL) or Physics (HL) (not both). |
| STPM | BC+C+, including two subjects chosen from Biology, Chemistry, and either Mathematics or Physics (not both). Excludes Pengajian Am. |

| Gaokao (NCEE) and Senior High School Diploma (China) | 68% average in the Gaokao, including two subjects chosen from Biology, Chemistry, and either Mathematics or Physics (but not both), with one subject at 75% and the other at 73%. In addition, a minimum of 70% overall in the Senior High School Diploma, with at least 70% in Mathematics and two Science subjects, which must include Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. Gaokao scores are converted from 750 to a percentage scale. |

| Nottingham's Foundation Programme | Successful completion is required, with an overall minimum average of 50%, including at least 45% in all Biology modules and either all Chemistry or all Physics modules. All progressing Foundation candidates into the Bachelor of Science with Honours in Nutrition programme are also required to meet the English language requirement as stipulated by the School of Biosciences at the Malaysia Campus. |
In addition to the entry requirements listed above, applicants must have at least a credit (normally grade C) in mathematics at SPM/GCSE/IGCSE/ High School Diploma or equivalent for an entry to Biotechnology. This requirement can be waived if applicants have obtained similar or equivalent grade at a higher level.

- IELTS (Academic), TOEFL iBT, and PTE (Academic) test results must be less than two years old.
- IELTS One Skill Retake is accepted.
- IELTS Academic Online, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, and PTE Academic Online are not accepted.
- MUET results are valid for five years from the release date.
- OSSD English (ENG3U/ENG4U) with the required grades will only be accepted if applicants have completed all 30 credits from standard OSSD courses, not through credit exemptions. Fast-track routes are not accepted.
- CBSE/CISCE Class XII or Class X English with the required grades will only be accepted if applicants provide a confirmation letter stating that English was the medium of instruction throughout schooling from Class X to Class XII.
Foundation progression options
The Nottingham's Foundation Programme is a 1-year pre-university course that prepares students for direct progression to UNM’s undergraduate degrees. It builds a strong academic foundation while enhancing language, critical thinking, and study skills. Students can also explore elective modules tailored to their chosen degree pathway.
