PHIR class visit to the Islamic Arts Museum of Malaysia
On the 11 March 2020, thirty-three students of Understanding the Malay World visited the Islamic Arts Museum of Malaysia (IAMM) led by their module convener, Sumit Mandal.
The students spent most of their time in the Malay World Gallery of the Museum where they had the good fortune of being given a guided tour of the artefacts by the curator himself, Mr Izuan Fadzli Mohammad.
Students completed an assignment in groups based on what they saw, experienced, and understood from the visit to the Museum At the conclusion of the visit, many of the students expressed that they found it exciting and helpful to their learning to see the artifacts and get some sense of the materiel of life in the Malay world.
