NUsearch upgrade - 3 September 2025
Everything you need to know about the upcoming NUsearch upgrade - including what to do if you have Saved searches and Saved records.
About the upgrade
The upgraded version of the library collections discovery tool, NUsearch is now live for UNUK and will be live for UNM on 3 September 2025. 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ what is new in the system and the action you need to take to restore your Saved searches.
NUsearch is your one-stop shop for searching our extensive print and digital library collections and managing your library account.
Changes to NUsearch
Whilst many of the changes have taken place behind the scenes, there are several changes you will see when searching for items and managing your library account:
- New design
- Real time updates to resources. Your searches will always show the most up-to-date results, and new digital materials will be available straight away.
- Improvements to item records and filters
Changes to journals and databases search
The new version of NUsearch now allows you to search inside journals for your keywords, improving discoverability of information.
Changes to permalinks
Permalink addresses to items will be changed in the new system. Redirects are in place but we recommend checking any permalinks you may have stored locally or added to teaching or research materials.
Changes to your Library Account - including action required for retaining Saved searches and Saved records
All saved information in your Library Account and Favourites will be migrated over to the new version of NUsearch, however, any Saved searches and Search history will not be transferred. Saved records will only be transferred a few days or weeks after the upgrade. To avoid any inconvenience, we recommend saving a copy of your Saved searches and Saved records in current NUsearch before the upgrade.
To record your Saved searches, please:
- Log in to current NUsearch
- Click on your name in the header
- Select ‘Saved items’ and then select the ‘Saved searches’ tab.
- Review your Saved searches and take a note / screenshot of those that you wish to keep. You can copy and paste the search terms into a Word document or similar.
To record your Saved recrods, please:
- Log in to current NUsearch
- Click on your name in the header
- Select ‘Saved items’ and then select the ‘Saved records’ tab.
- Select the records in the tab that you want to export.
- Click on ’Export options’ to select the desired option (e.g., ‘Export to Excel’) and format.
- Log in to NUsearch
- For each search you would like to recreate, enter the search terms into the NUsearch search box and hit enter or click the magnifying glass icon.
- Select the 'Save query' option at the top of the search results to save each search.
- If you would like to receive email notifications for your Saved searches, select ‘Turn on notification for this query’.
