Alumni share experiences in reaching out frontliners and communities
Chin Ren Yi and Sameeta Sparks have shared their experience in reaching out frontliners and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic in a one-hour session on 26 June 2020 at 7pm through Microsoft Teams.
Both of them are Nottingham alumni who started helping and reaching out to communities since the Malaysian government announced the movement control order (MCO) on 18 March.
The session was moderated by our very own Assistant Professor Chan Wen Li. The evening started with an introduction by the host before the moderator took the floor.
The panelists utilised their time to share how this pandemic impacted their businesses, also initiatives and campaigns they ran in helping those who were mentally or physically disabled.
Ren Yi shared on the ‘mBL Mini Project’ which aims to help the elderly or those who have mobility restrictions to run errands and how he and his team reached out to the frontlines by providing free foods.
Sameeta organised the BER5: Mindful webinar series, which saw women experts discuss mental health. Besides that, she also organised a doodling class for children and young adults to express their feelings and help in motivation.
Responses and feedback received from the participants were positive and they thanked the organiser for conducting a good sharing session that would inspire them to give back to the community.
The full recording session can be found here.
