This module consists of three important aspects of financial markets; the introduction to financial services industry, the economic environment and the management of financial assets. The key financial assets include equities, bonds, derivatives, investment funds and other financial products.
Students who complete the module may then opt to take the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI’s) ‘International Introduction to Securities and Investment’ examination, which is a CISI Foundation Level qualification that contributes towards the CISI Level 3 Certificate in International Introduction to Securities and Investment.

Aims and objectives
The module aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of financial market and institutions with an overview of international regulation.
Schedule
14 hours of seminar/lecture over 7 weeks (weekly 2-hour session). There are nine topics to be covered and one session will be offered at the end of semester for revision.
