Students as change agents
About
Your experiences at university will help shape your views, thoughts and actions as a working professional in the future. So now is the time to take ownership of your university experience and ensure that you have done everything within your means to guarantee that you are getting the most from your degree.
This module aims to provide students with an opportunity to take an active part in making changes to their and future students’ teaching and learning experience.
- A student or group of students can apply with an idea for a project, which, if deemed suitable by the School/Department and module team, can be undertaken as part of the module in collaboration with a staff partner.
- A student or group can apply to lead a project which has been proposed by a member of staff.
Students can apply with an identified staff partner from their School/Department. The Students as Change Agents module convenor will also introduce students to a suitable staff partner if requested. Where a student or group of students is applying with their own idea for a project it would be beneficial if they have first discussed this with their Head of School/Department or Course Director/Director of Teaching.
Examples of previous projects include:
- Establishing accredited work placement modules.
- Investigating lecture capture.
- Evaluation of curriculum content focussing on year-to-year transition.
Projects promoted by various Schools/Departments will be available from all three Faculties for the 2018-19 academic year. Students are, however, also encouraged to consider proposing their own projects which will contribute to change within their Schools/Departments. Student-proposed projects are more likely to be accepted if they are supported by evidence from a Learning Community Forum (LCF), Student Evaluation of Module (SEM) survey or from other types of student feedback.
