UNMC alumnus enters Forbes 'Most Promising Entrepreneurs in Africa' list
Mike Muthiga (Civil Engineering, 2010) is one of the eight young and enterprising Kenyans who have been featured prominently in the Forbes ’30 Most Promising Young Entrepreneurs in Africa 2014’ list.
Mike, 26, is now pioneering animation in the advertising industry following his return to Kenya after graduation. In 2011, he founded FatBoy Animations, a Nairobi-based animation company that produces 2D and 3D animations for both film and commercial use.
FatBoy Animations has produced several animated commercials for Kenyan brands such as Safaricom, Telkom Orange, Barclays Bank and Jamii Telecommunications (JTL) that have gone viral, prompting the animator to convert the project into a series.
As the Director of FatBoy Animations, Mike plans to grow his enterprise beyond Kenya to East African countries. He says lack of local animation training facilities remains a stumbling block in producing quality animated films, with most anime techies relying on free online tutorials to master the art.
