Award winning alumni returns home to share her knowledge
Award winning alumna Molly Fong returned home to participate in the ‘Leadership Knows No Gender’ Conference organised by Nottingham Advantage Awardstudents in collaboration with Women in Science Engineering and Technology (WINSET) group at 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC).
The 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia Campus conferred Molly the prestigious ‘Alumnus of the Year Award’ in 2013 for her exceptional business acumen and the championing of her company’s campaigning stance in Malaysia.
Molly who had graduated with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2011 from UNMC, developed and managed the company’s values to bring about social and environmental change in Malaysia, including her promotion of the Stop Violence Against Women campaign, in collaboration with Women’s Aid Organisation, a campaign that raised awareness and funds on domestic violence.
Molly spoke about gender equality at the Conference and mentioned that cultural constraints – such as the media and celebrities – shape gender stereotypes and sexism in society. However, she urged women to remove all ‘excuses’ in life and be committed to achieving professional success.
The final session of the conference was an open discussion and Molly highlighted that the key issue for women today is to break the glass ceiling and advised the young people to take more interest in activism.
Alumna Molly Fong was one of the speakers amongst a panel of experts; Ms. Goh Siu Lin, Chairman of Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee; Tony Pua Kiam Wee, Member of the Malaysian Parliament for North Petaling Jaya; and Jason Lo, Chief Executive Officer of Tune Talk.
