Both programmes are similar, but the BSc in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience focuses more on how brain function relates to behaviour and includes specialised research techniques like brain imaging.
In the first year, both programmes are identical to provide a strong foundation in psychology. In the second year, all taught modules are the same except for the practical (experimental) module. By the third year, Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience students must take at least 40 credits of cognitive neuroscience-related modules, while BSc Psychology students have more flexibility to choose from various options.
For those interested in a career or further studies in neuroscience, the Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience degree is a strong choice. Students can also transfer between the two programmes before starting their second year, giving them flexibility as their interests evolve.
The BSc Applied Psychology and Management is ideal for students interested in both psychology and business management, focusing on how psychology applies to organisational and social settings.
On the other hand, the Psychology programmes in the School of Psychology explore the mind, brain, and behaviour from a scientific perspective. They cover core areas like cognitive, developmental, biological, and social psychology, with a strong focus on research methods and quantitative analysis.
Graduates can pursue careers in academia, corporate, or clinical fields.
