At the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM), every faculty has a dedicated Career Advisory Service (CAS) team to ensure there is focus on the right partnership between students and potential employers.
Ong Yung Shin is at pains to highlight the admirable but “much underrated” work of the CAS, which led to her becoming a ‘career-fluencer’.
Yung Shin credited the CAS for the introductions that led to her interning with companies such as Deloitte and the ZALORA Group. She also volunteered as a project consultant for a local social enterprise under the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and the Malaysian SOCIAL Project.
Alongside these, Yung Shin was the Campus and Student Ambassador for L’Oréal and KPMG respectively. She was also the Director of Marketing for Enactus, a 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ of Nottingham student organisation on social enterprise.

Finance, Accounting and Management can be a tough course, but Yung Shin is glad that she has persevered. The comprehensive curriculum and global accreditations have given her the foundation and confidence to pursue post-graduate qualifications such as the ACCA, - should she choose to do so.
With an elder sibling already an UNM graduate and a younger one that has just joined, it seems the UNM connection is strong in Yung Shin’s family.
But it is not just convenience that has built such a strong connection; it runs much deeper. For Yung Shin, UNM has provided connections broader than most in terms of the diversity experienced in its halls.
“I love enjoying the serene views in front of the Mamak during the mornings when I go to the gym early.” Yung Shin has very fond memories of the UNM campus.
Her educational journey at UNM has given her a sense of independence and ambition. Her advice to future UNM students is “Start planning for the future earlier, and utilise campus resources such as CAS to streamline the process!”.
