Learning Chinese can open doors to exciting opportunities, from studying at top universities to advancing your career in an increasingly global workplace. The HSK and HSKK exams are internationally recognised qualifications that certify your Chinese language proficiency. These exams provide an official benchmark of your ability to communicate effectively in Mandarin across academic, professional, and everyday contexts.
Used by universities for placement, credit exemptions, and course admissions in Chinese-language programmes.
Recognised by employers globally as proof of language competence — useful for recruitment, promotion, and training.
A great way for learners to measure their progress and set clear learning goals.
Language centres and training providers use HSK/HSKK to evaluate learning outcomes and teaching quality.

The HSK is a written proficiency test that evaluates your ability to listen, read, and write in Chinese. It is open to non-native speakers and is widely recognised by universities and employers in China and around the world.
The exam consists of six levels:
HSK 1–2: Basic vocabulary and phrases for daily use.
HSK 3–4: Intermediate understanding for study or work purposes.
HSK 5–6: Advanced comprehension and expression for academic or professional fluency.

The HSKK is the oral component of the HSK, designed to test your speaking and pronunciation skills through recorded responses. It measures how naturally and accurately you can express yourself in Mandarin.
There are three HSKK levels:
HSKK (Primary): Basic spoken communication.
HSKK (Intermediate): Everyday and academic conversation.
HSKK (Advanced): Fluent and nuanced expression for academic or professional contexts.
Note: From January 2023, candidates sitting for HSK 3 and above are required to take the corresponding HSKK level (Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced).
The HSK and HSKK exams assess your practical communication skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Each level builds on the one before it, helping you measure your progress as you advance from beginner to fluent user of Mandarin.
