Q: What career prospects are available to International Relations graduates?
A: An International Relations degree opens doors to a wide range of careers, including roles in the diplomatic corps, government, international organisations (such as the United Nations), the private sector (banking, finance, consulting), advocacy (NGOs, civil society), education, and research.
Q: What will I learn in the programme?
A: You'll gain a strong foundation in the fundamentals of Politics and International Relations, from theory and methods to data collection. You'll also be introduced to key concepts in International Relations, including major powers, institutions, and regional organisations. As you progress, you'll have the opportunity to explore more specialised topics and themes, such as specific countries or regions, climate change, human rights, international development, and political economy.
Q: Where will I study, and when does the academic year start?
A: Undergraduate and PHD students are taught only at our Semenyih campus. The academic year begins in September for undergraduate students, and for Post Graduate students, intakes are available in February and September.
Q: What support does the School provide?
A: We offer comprehensive support, including personal tutors for pastoral care and academic guidance, a Senior Tutor, a Disability Learning Officer, and access to the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@'s Wellbeing service.
Q: Can I study a language and/or study abroad while completing my degree?
A: Undergraduate students can choose French or Spanish as part of their degree programme or study other languages at the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@ Language Centre. Undergraduate students also have the option to study abroad in their second or third year at our UK or China campuses or partner universities.
Q: Are there any relevant student associations I can join?
A: Although there are no official Politics and International Relations student associations exist, SPIR-NOTT and the UN Youth Association work closely with the School and welcome Politics and International Relations students.
Q: What awards are available for Politics and International Relations students?
A: The School awards prizes for outstanding performance, including best student, best dissertation, and other categories. These prizes are currently only open to undergraduate students.
Q: How do I progress as a student and provide feedback on my classes?
A: To progress as a student, you'll need to meet the 188体育网址_188体育在线-【唯一授权网站】@'s progression requirements, which include obtaining a pass mark of 40/100 at the undergraduate level and 50/100 at the master's level. As for providing feedback on your classes, you can do so through discussions with your module convenor, participating in Student Staff Forum meetings, and completing the Student Evaluation of Module surveys.
